Round 1 30th March
Venue: Hanchurch Woods
Riding style: will favour racers who have finesse as well as power.
With the help and support of Lord Stafford and the Forestry Commission, the first round of the 2008 series is to be held at Hanchurch Woods, near Stoke-on-Trent. This is an exciting venue, new to XC racing, located just a few minutes from junction 15 of the M6 providing excellent links to the North and the Midlands from the M6.
After pestering the organisers last year, elite XC racer (and sickeningly talented rider) Martyn Brookes has been given the opportunity to design what he thinks is the perfect race course and a worthy start to the series. Linking together the best trails hidden deep in the woods, riders can expect heaps of tight, twisty singletrack, short punchy climbs and some hidden extra’s to keep them entertained….
Lord Stafford has very kindly permitted the event to run in return for a donation to be made to a charity of his choice. We will therefore ask all competitors for a voluntary contribution for car parking.
Location: Hanchurch Woods is situated to the South West of Stoke-on-Trent and minutes from junction 15 of the M6. The event arena is off Drayton Road and will be signposted from the A500/A519 roundabout. Parking is situated at the event site and at the adjacent car park and will be marshaled on race day.
