Great ride by Big Ring to get fourth in Masters in a very good field and some other FNSS requlars done good too, Paul Robertson/Treads won the expert class, Keith Sperry won the Vets. Matt Barrett was a close second in Masters while Vic Barnett got second too in Grand vets, and both did the v.hard Handicap race on Sat to boot. What more proof do you need that FNSS breds some good mtb racers, and is a series worth winning. Proper track crank has 48 teeth on it, and the biggest rear sprocket i got is 18 so will that work. So doing a quick check with 54-21 which is just useable up most hills round here that comes out as 69.5. (I know sic) Its been long known that you can get into Santa Pod for free, they cant, and dont seem to want to stop you. Known but not tested untill today. The Cruz twins BigRing and me  played on some firm yet slimy tracks on our way over there from Stanwick lakes before hitting Northants version of the Somme, the three shires way.  (its no wonder anyone who lives in this area thinks there is no decent trails in Northants). A small battle of balance and line choice later we roll straight into the pits of the Auto Trader Easter Thunderball meeting, and its pretty busy and active with plenty of food and drink and a funfair. For 2 laps me Phil and Lloyd and about 4 others worked like dogs. Caveman had 8 Min's lead, Graham and Slapper and Brownie were up there too, the chase was on. Ending lap 2 of 3 they were in our sights, we were motoring and working well race on, then the rain came and downhill at 38mph onto a mud laden road was a big shock to 20mm slick tyres. I'm used to going sideways but this was downright madness. With thoughts of potential damage sprinting in a group the fire went out of our bellies. We re-grouped and the red mist took over again but it was too late. We just caught the group but the front of it were charging for the line.
