for everyone

So you watching that there Tour thingy, and at the end of next week they show you some profiles of the climbs they have to do. 10%, 15% pah, easy compared to the peaks check this out (click for bigger) the road route we did on Sat.

Yep some regular 15% hits and a few in the 20's, there was some serious grinding going on up them, ok they dont go on for Hours like the French classics, but they pretty damn killer to us swamp dwellers.
Led to some great speeds coming back down too.

So what did we learn during our ride then;
Graham can bounce off car bumpers and dosen't bruise easily.
Nige is one seriously fast descender.
Smiffy can hold a front wheel blow out at speed (respect).
Noddy has got some serious balls on wet roads with his back wheel hanging out when facing a wall.
Maps are so last century.
Sausage sandwiches at the Hope Cafe are ace.
Road bike brakes are Shit.

Great ride guys - I was 100% knackered when I got home. I washed the bike yesterday. The biggest 3 cogs and smallest 2 were filthy, the rest were hardly used. Just about sums up the ride - it was either up slow or down fast.

Looks a good one gents! Always fancied a road ride in the Peaks but the draw of the mud has always been too great. After surviving the Ras Du Cymru stage race last week in one piece I've a hell of a lot more respect for these roadies! +40mph descent, when you can physicaly toutch 10 people from where you are sat and 52mph into sharp corner, into cattle grid!!!! Wrong diddely wrong!

Did you stick with the bunch then Rich, and how did your climbing skills compare to the stiff backs.
