Hi All, been following Rich's progress, but on day 3 him and Mark have dissappeared from the results!!!!
The gnalry nutters (Natham and Paul) from the TransRockies are riding, as are Mel and Pippa who are currently 6th in the women's. Some friends of mine from Edinburgh are plodding along in the Masters 0 UK Double Dutch Pancake Bar . Jack - if you hear what happened to Rich - please let me know.

Back in the orafice today and sifting through three weeks worth of stuff!

Transalp was very hot, the Welsh boys took a dislike to our shirts, the racing and the company was great but the riding was dull. The race was celebrating its 10th year aniversary and used the same route as the first year. Riding has changed a lot in a decade and the course consisted of less than 30k singletrack in 600k. One day had a 85k stint on the road ? ? ?

Good experience and one that I may do again, but TR is much more of a MTBers event. I couldn't begin to understand how arrogant most of the German riders could be when they couldn't ride a 'technical' section - they wouls try to stop you riding it! That lead to a few flashpoints.

We were top Brits till day 8 when Mark crashed, ripped his mech of, broke a rib and screwed his hand up. We finished as 3rd Brits having lost our half hour advantage and ended up 70 somehing overall.

More to follow when I've worked through the rest of the crap / work stuff I have to deal with!

Well done and Good stuff, you have confirmed in an instant all the rerasons why I would never consider the Transalp.

Guess marks MegaAvalanche was stuffed then, how was it for you.

Can't see why the Welsh would be upset with your jerseys ;-)

Mark was told to have 3 weeks rest. As downhilling is not exercise that meant he was fine for the Mega - just popped full of Iburofen (sp?)

Mega is a mad event, see the start here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L51D8oI_1mE

I will put some worms together for the entire trip and send them round - rather than reliving hundreds of tit bits to all

No, he was in the first wave of riders. The first 58 in each qualifying race go to make up the first race, then the ladies went off, followed by the next 50 from each qualifier. I punctured and stacked it on the qualifier and missed out on the main race by about 60 seconds.

Odd one was, if you were outside of all the qualifying races you still got to ride the course, with a transponder and got a time that put you in the results? So you have a clear run at the course afrer 1000 people have already got out your way.
