Blog EntryFrankenbike wins then I butcher it.Jan 7, '08 6:14 PM
for everyone
Well Frankenbike the cyclo-X frame thats had more different roles to play than any machine should ever be asked to suffer, completed its last ride Sunday. Even though it was a win (Wahoo first in over a year) it had to change, off with the flat bars, the cable discs the heavy wheels and the virtually smooth chainset also the slack chain along with mountains of rust and crap.

One garage frenzy later, over a bottle of wine (not my best idea ever) , some shiny new wheels and some scrounged bars, shifters and any other cable bits and bobs I could find its all change...........ok not much but at least it dosent weigh 26lbs now .

So without a test ride its got to get me to work tomorrow, 8 speed campag road shifters How do they work again?, rapid rise xtr rear mech (uh ohh), drops and v-brakes with no front mech cause i havent got a top pull road version, it  should work...........somehow!
Told you that wine was a bad idea, If i get to the  Tuesday ride in one piece it will be a miracle.

Did I mention I won ;-)    Jacks back.

Blog EntryBack on a bike today - 2007 GoalsFeb 3, '07 4:35 PM
for everyone

After teasing you, here’s my 2007 Goals, cycling New Year resolutions perhaps;

  • Ride every day of the year from now on. At least 1 mile, and Turbo courses count
  • Do both the UK (Bristol) and  World (Aviemore) Singlespeed Championships
  • One weekend away riding each month to the great ride areas of the UK
  • Go Cycle Touring….... not sure how or where, Europe would be great
  • European riding holiday of some kind, road trip hey Stu?
  • To help the Saturday Stanwick rides continue to grow as the place to go.
  • To do one epic chilled all day ride with a proper pub lunch one long summer day.
  • Do a certain long race in Scotland.
  • Introduce some plumz riders to the great 7Stanes rides in Scotland.

Yep no racing performance goals, I don’t have any so there.

Riding started again today with a gentle spin out to see the Stanwick riders, Wahoo.  Comfy and steady on the 5.5 sofa but it showed how weak the arm is, first target is pulling up on the bars then.

The weekends riding plan is underway for April with a weekend away at the HONC event, with another ride on the Saturday before like the Forest of Dean. Join 5 of us by entering; HONC DETAILS. Further must-ride areas are the Berwyn Mountains, Elan Valley, Calderdale, Quantocks, Exmoor, Leith Hill and the South Downs.

It’s the FNSS annual race fixing meeting on Monday so should have some news then of the series dates and venues.

Go explore
