Come on down the club tonight and bang in a prologue time for our little fun 4 round winter tour.
The first ride will take you about 6 mins I reckon, the rules are you get one go at it and thats final. Theres Green jersey points up for grabs too.

So if your not doing the valley ride, bring down some kit, normal trainers and a towel (you will get warm) and stick in a time.
You then have the rest of the winter period to complete the tour, it should be fun.
Round 1 - prologue, pan flat 2 miles
Round 2 - Climb
Round 3 - virtual video demo sprint and climb 1 mile
Round 4 - Criterium race 1.5 miles

I missed the Saturday ride, nothing was getting me out of than warm bed too early, sorry guys. So to follow my training plan I had to get some warm indoor miles in, and two frantic rides in the Virtual cycling I-Magic on-line tour ensued, Stereo blaring and suffering from overheating this is the way to get your miles in over the winter for sure.

as a result it was worth it, there little tour ended sunday night and heres the results.

ok its a bit small, but 3rd place and a polka dot jersey winner...wahoo I'm King of the mountains......well sort of. And I get an actual jersey to use on my Imagic too.

Quite a good likeness, even my hair has grown back

If you havent cottoned on yet, the Rocko now have an Imagic and we are running our own little winter compettion, get down the club on over the next two Wednesday nights and set yourself a prologue time. It will only take about 6 mins of effort but it will be fun.

No not cycling naked for Haloween, well that would be scary though!

Its the fact that i'm shagged, a couple of 200 mile weeks and some stupid 19 hour day at work monday have all got on top of me, i thought i was OK, the crawl into work on the bike this morning showed me otherwise.  I had planned to roll down the Rocko tonight, but that aint happening.

So a relaxing night in, but wait............ checks how the October I-magic on-line leagues are going, last day and I'm safe in a promotion spot.......................

Oh bummer, I'm in division 3 and yesterday I was safely looking at promotion. Now some German has just bumped me down into 3rd which means no promotion.

I still have one last chance though, I did a crap ride on one of the 3 courses, which is a 5 Carina lap sprint (shown below) round that course we used for the Rocko night. Heck its  only  about 10-11 mins of pain, can I save myself and defeat the jonny forigner? So all i need is 1min6secs faster, so 11 mins should do the trick. Have you spotted paul Morris on there too, he's back.

Bugger......can you have the competitive gene removed on the NHS I wonder.

Tune in tomorrow to see if i was sick, or imploded. come on the Brits.

Blog EntryThe 1st Rocko I-Magic Virtual Road Race nightMar 5, '07 7:30 PM
for everyone

This was a bit of an experimental night, and it all looked very quiet early on, Brownie got there early so had a quick spin round the 0.99 mile race course, showing good power to set the bar at 2.22 before heading off for the regular valley loop with the regulars.

While they were away Eileen and mountainbikers Ron and Jack moved the pace up a touch and set the best at 2.14 but there was no real sweat around at that point. Challenge takers seemed hard to find, it was like a PE lesson at school with everyone forgetting there kit and reluctant to make an exhibition of themselves.

Up stepped the man of carbon, stripped and ready for action. Now Jack had paced Ron, showing the slipstream effect the simulation had and nipped out for the sprint win. Bob showed he was going alone from the flag and powered away but he was yet to experience the full effect of the finishing hill. The I magic simulates the climb and the effect of a slight headwind at that point to good effect, Bob died and just hung on from the chasing riders to set a new 2.12 record, and win the Gurning competition in style.

Ron stepped up again, and with the bike in top gear all the way flexing like a visa card on meltdown blasted at full power for the whole ride to trip the clock at 2.01, blooming ell were we just playing before then.

The Gloves were of then as a series of challengers tried desperately to use Rons slipstream to have a chance of beating that impressive time, but to no avail.  All credit to Tony for giving it a good go in jeans and shoes while Slapper was the first to go close with some impressive power up the hill but weakened from the valley lap fell short.

Carbon Bob had one last effort as the night struck 10pm and looked good pacing Slappers run, but could not make it count in the sprint and had to settle for 3rd much to Chris’s delight.

Ron finished off the night showing everyone it was no fluke by laying down another 2.01 beating his other ride on the line as the last run of the night.

Good skills from Troy, a potential new Rocko member, for initially puncturing on a turbo, and for melting the tyre in the process of trying to keep up as the tyre slipped. When he got another go he managed an impressive time for a beginner, and some superb power readings up the hill that had a few competitors sizing up those monster calves.

Next time we need some more of the big hitters to show us how its done, should be red hot.

There’s some video of Ron in action here, and thanks to troy fro the loan of his bike as my seat post refused to budge for action.

Come on down to the Rocko clubhouse for a night of indoor cycling fun on the PC trainer. All the Plumz mountainbikers and friends are invited to come and pit your pedalling skills against your buddies.

The plan is I set up the kit and any rider can do a run on either a short 2 lap road circuit or a short mtb loop with jumps, or both. It will be about 5/6 mins a go and you can have as many goes as time allows. Drink Tea and watch others ride too. You can race against upto 5 othe rriders  times so you can chase the fastest guys at the end of the night.
Might be some prizes if I get organised.

All you need is some kit - you will get warm and sweaty and trainers, I'll have to provide the bike (adjustable seat height) and some flat pedals (anyone got any pedals with toestraps I can borrow? or it will be flatties)

So come along lets see whos the fastest the mtb guys or the road guys. All welcome on the night wether Rocko members, Plumz other clubs or friends.

Blog EntryTuesday night ride with a differenceFeb 13, '07 5:50 PM
for everyone

So did you enjoy your Tuesday night ride then, I did even though it was pretty tough. I went up Alp dhuez in France (well in my garage really). It was pretty cool to see this handywork done by BigRing a few years back when we went to watch the tour is still actually on the road in the video. How bizarre is that, laughing on a turbo is a new experience too.

More pics from our trip to the Alps way back are here

This Imagic cycling is pretty good when its shitty outside, but I still cant wait for my first proper outdoor ride this year, maybe at the weekend.  I tried to give an idea of what it looks like, have a look in the video section.
