I'm planning a Sportive/Reliability ride, depending on insurance, helpers etc.

(160km) 100 mile epic tour of all the finest Northants hills, all the killers to tune you up ready for the hillclimb. Plan is full route marking and Food at checkpoints so has to be late season so I can plan it all.
Hopefully make it an annual event with the same route so we can have record times, or records to aim for.

CLARION 2008 EASTER SPORTIVE - 50 or 100 or 160km
As part of the Clarion's 113th Easter Meet at Stamford, among the activities will be a Cyclo-Sportive challenge ride around the lanes of Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire. The event is being staged by our local section - Fenland Clarion.

Sunday 23rd March - 10am, 9am, 8am
The routes take in the rolling lanes to the west and south of Stamford and the flat, windswept roads of the Fens to the east. Choose a distance to suit your level of fitness. Beware however, the hills in these parts are tough enough and on a windy day, there is nowhere to hide in the Fens!!!

UCI International Commissaires will be in attendance as part of the ongoing assessment of the Dragon Ride for potential inclusion as the UK round of the UCI Golden Bike Series.

The Dragon Ride is the only UK ciclosportive where entrants will have their ride packs (numbers, timing chip, final instructions and any clothing purchased) posted out to them, ruling out the need to register before the event. Just turn up on the morning of the event and ride!

The 180km (Gran Fondo) riders will depart at 8am in no particular order, basically as the riders arrive, the 120k (Medio Fondo) will depart once all the 180k riders have departed, probably around 08.30.

There will be 11 motorcycle marshals of whom two will be paramedics and 5 ambulances in attendance.

Riders will have mechanical support provided by Tredz.co.uk at the start, all feedstations and via a roving support vehicle.

Additional toilet facilities will be sited at the start/ finish and the feedstations.

High5 will once again supply the energy drink, Giant are the official bike supplier and Hyundai / Jacksons Garages are to supply the official event vehicles.

We are planning to have free massage services for riders at the finish.

There will be split timing points on both 180 & 120km routes.

Any one fancy a mad day out in the pennines this summer. NOT A RACE

see her for the Pain in the Pennines   Sunday 17th June 2007. Start between 8am and 9am (Groups of 15 to 20 riders)

106 miles of some cracking climbs and scenery. So Gregg and others who seem to enjoy a challenge on the skinny hoops lets do it. I'l drive. This is the wekend before the mayhem 24 hours so theres plenty of light, although 2 weekends away on the trot might not win you many brownie points.

The profile looks pretty daunting though.

Think your hard enough

Entry Fee £15 ( £20 on the day). Closing date for Pre Entries is June 3rd 2007...Limit of 300 riders   - bet that fills up fast.
